Shore Shore Train Cancellations

Afternoon rush hour for the South Shore Line is being affected by a disabled train in East Chicago at last check. The Northern Indiana Commuter Transportation District, or NICTD, reports that eastbound train 209 is disabled with a damaged pantograph, and as a result, westbound train 218, scheduled to arrive in Chicago at 5:34 this afternoon, is canceled between Gary and Chicago. Black Friday isn't just one Friday in November anymore. Richard Feinberg, Purdue University professor of consumer science and retailing, says consumers can expect Black Friday sales now and thru the end of the year. Sobriety Checkpoint this Friday

The Lowell District of the Indiana State Police in conjunction with the Northern Porter County Traffic Safety Partnership, and Chesterton Police Department will conduct a sobriety checkpoint during the late evening hours in Porter County this Friday night [ November 16, 2012]. Accidents Slow Toll Road Tuesday

Three accidents stopped or slowed traffic on the Indiana Toll Road Tuesday afternoon. The first happened near the LaPorte/ St. Joseph County line around 10:30 am, when a delivery truck went off the roadway near an overpass. A semi reportedly jackknifed about five miles to the east about two-and-a-half hour later. The Portage Police Department announced this morning that a news conference is scheduled this afternoon (3pm) to address new developments concerning the arrest of a subject in connection with the death of Carl Griffith Sr. Authorities say the 72-year-old man was found shot in the front yard of his Portage home on Locust Street around 8 pm November first, and pronounced dead that same night at a local hospital.
