Man Sentenced on Federal Drug Charges

A 35 year old Michigan City man was sentenced to 12 and a half years in prison Friday after being indicted on federal drug charges on ten separate counts. Michigan City Police report Jason Rife accepted a plea agreement, where he pled guilty to one count of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, in this case heroin. NICTD Fare Increase Unlikely

Northern Indiana Commuter Transit District, or NICTD, trustees on Friday unanimously approved their 2013 business plan, which means schedules and a fare increase is unlikely in 2013. A 21 year old Union Township man, who pleaded guilty in July to the felony charge of operating a motor vehicle with a controlled substance causing death, was sentenced Friday to four years in prison.
