The National Weather Service says preliminary data indicate 26 tornadoes touched down in the state of Indiana during Sunday's severe weather outbreak in the Midwest. There were three in northwest Indiana Sunday, one each in Newton, Jasper and Pulaski Counties. That would put Sunday, November 17th, 2013, as third for the number of tornadoes in one day in state history. The highest number, 37, occurred June 2nd 1990, followed by 29 tornadoes confirmed on April 19, 2011. Findings for this past Sunday's tornado outbreak including tornado intensity ratings are not yet final.
