The Indiana Department of Child Services announced today Richard Ban has been appointed the office director for the Indiana Department of Child Services, Lake County office. He will also serve as the regional manager for Lake County. In his new role Ban will set goals and objectives for child welfare management helping to ensure children are protected from abuse or neglect. In addition, he’ll oversee a team of 235 that includes family case managers, supervisors, legal and clerical staff. He’ll also handle general office operations. [Photo provided]
“We’re very pleased Richard will be managing day-to-day operations in our Lake County office,” said Jane Bisbee, DCS’ Deputy Director of Field Operations. “His experience working in the field and then later serving as a supervisor and deputy director will be invaluable to him as he continues to help families in his county now as director and regional manager.”
A life-long Hoosier, Ban was born and grew up in Gary and has always worked in Lake County. Employed first as a family case manager for the Lake County Department of Welfare, he later worked as a supervisor for the Lake County office of the Indiana Department of Child Services. In 2006, he was promoted to deputy director. A licensed social worker, Ban holds a bachelor’s degree in business management from Indiana University.
