Merrillville Fire Chief Ed Yerga says a fire that damaged a business building in the eight-thousand block of Tyler Street Wednesday night has been ruled arson. Yerga told the Region News Team that investigators determined there were multiple points of origin. There were no injuries reported. Officials say ScreenMe Printing and Tristar Vacuum Cleaning are located in the building, and a third office is currently unoccupied. Chief Yerga is asking anyone with information to call the Merrillville Fire Department at 219-769-0004 or Merrillville Police at 219-769-3531. Yerga says callers can remain anonymous, and if information leads to an arrest and conviction, callers can receive a reward of up to five-thousand dollars.
