Five men, including the suspected gunman, were injured in a shooting overnight at a senior citizens social club in the 22-hundred block of Gary. Police believe robbery is a possible motive. Gary Police Public Information Officer Corporal Gabrielle King says at about 11:30 Wednesday night Gary Police dispatch received a call of shots fired inside the Safe and Sound Senior Citizen Social Club at 2220 Broadway. Corporal King says upon arrival officers learned a gunman entered the club and began ordering patrons to the ground at gunpoint, then shots rang out and four people were shot – two men from Gary, ages 65 and 76, a 43-year-old East Chicago man, and a 45-year-old Chicago man. Police say the suspect, a 23-year-old Chicago man, was also shot. At this time it's unknown who shot the suspect or if he acted alone. All the shooting victims were taken to the hospital, and their conditions were not available. The suspect is in custody and no charges have been filed at this time. No information was available as to how many people were in the club at the time. Anyone with information is asked to contact Gary Police Detective James Bond.
