Indiana Senate Passes Revised Gay Marriage Ban

A proposed amendment to ban gay marriage passed the Indiana State Senate today by a vote of 32-to-17. Even though the measure passed, it will not appear on a statewide ballot until at least 2016 due to language removed from House Joint resolution-3 last month that would have also included a ban civil unions.
Indiana Republican Senator Mike Delph, of Carmel, who went on a two-day Twitter rant last week blasting Republican leaders, federal judges, Christian ministers and supporters of gay marriage, promised on Monday he'd, “make an announcement you won't want to miss”, by launching a bid to get civil unions back in the bill so it could be put before voters in November, but according to published reports, failed in getting the necessary support.
