A semi loaded with 43-thousand pounds of apples was struck this morning on the Indiana Toll Road causing it to rollover, losing part of its load. Indiana State Police Lowell post reports around 4:15am a 61 year old Illinois man in a semi with the apple load was legally parked on the outside shoulder of westbound I-80/94, just east of Cline Avenue, with its hazard warning lights on waiting for a tow truck when a semi driven by a 27 year old Washington State man went off the road and hit the semi.
State Police report the Illinois man was hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries while the other driver, who was cited for unsafe lane movement, was not injured.
The crash closed the right lane for three hours for removal of the injured and crash cleanup.
