An 83 year old man was rescued from a house fire in the 27-hundred block of Central Avenue in Lake Station this afternoon. Lake Station Police report an officer observed a large amount of smoke emitting from underneath the roof overhang of the home. Several police officers upon arrival reported windows along with the home's east door melting and started to force their way into the residence when other officers at the scene reported they discovered an elderly man lying on the floor blocking the door. Officer then gained entry to the home, pulled the man out and carried him to the ambulance.
