Man Talked Down After Threats to Jump Off Overpass

A LaPorte man who threatened to jump off an overpass Monday night surrendered without incident after nearly two-hours of negotiation with police officers. LaPorte Police report officers were dispatched to the US Highway 35 overpass, at approximately 9:16pm, and located the 23 year old, who according to police was despondent over some personal issues. Police report the man was sitting on the exterior concrete railing with his legs over the edge and eventually placed his whole body over the other side, balancing on the outer edge before being talked down.
