Authorities are seeking the public's help to locate and identify a vehicle and its driver that were involved in an early morning crash on Friday at the intersection of US 35 and US 20. The LaPorte County Sheriff's Office reports the driver of a red 2005 Hyundai Elantra had no recollection of the crash due to a severe head injury, but evidence at the scene indicated that prior to the crash, the Hyundai may have impacted the rear of a semi-trailer. While the impact was not captured, surveillance recordings from a nearby business reportedly recorded a flatbed tractor-trailer pulling away from the intersection seconds before the crash. The Sheriff's Office reports the driver of the tractor-trailer may not have been aware the vehicle had been impacted from behind and therefore did not stop. The type and color of the semi is not known and anyone with information is asked to contact the LaPorte County Sheriff's Office.
