Vigil Held for Slain Lansing Child

In Lansing, a candlelight vigil was held Sunday night to remember a two-year-old girl pronounced dead inside a home in the 179-hundred block of Wildwood Avenue last week. The Cook County Medical Examiners office ruled the death a homicide saying the toddler, identified as Jakariah Patterson, died due to trauma related to child abuse. The child's father, 21-year-old Jeremiah Thompson, was arrested Friday and charged with murder.
