Train Operator Admits to Dozing Off Before Crash

The National Transportation Safety Board says the operator of a Chicago train admitted to dozing off before the train hit a bumper and rolled up an escalator Monday morning. ABC News reports according to Ted Turpin with the NTSB, the woman had only been working as an operator since January, and admitted to them that in February she dozed off and passed a station without stopping. CTA became aware of that almost immediately, and a supervisor admonished her and had a discussion with her. One of the 32 people injured in the crash has already filed a negligence lawsuit against the Chicago Transit Authority. She fractured her ankle while on board the train.
