University Officials Consider Ideas for New Name

As the two Purdue campuses in Northwest Indiana continue to work toward an administrative merger, many things still remain unknown – including what the new consolidated university will be called. University officials are going through a long list of suggestions now, and plan to narrow that down to a few top choices to present to the trustees for their consideration. The chancellors of Purdue Calumet in Hammond and Purdue North Central in Westville gave a joint presentation during the Board of Trustees meeting held last week at PNC. Officials have said they plan to maintain the Lake and LaPorte County campuses, which are about 35 miles apart.
