Intoxicated Man Drives Vehicle Into Moving Train

A Michigan City man who drove his SUV into a moving train on Sunday morning in Michigan City has been charged with operating while intoxicated and leaving the scene of an accident. The Times reports 38 year old Jose Jenkins fled the scene, at the CSX crossing on Ohio Street, on foot, and was discovered stumbling a few blocks away by an officer with Long Beach Police.
According to the article, the impact caused one of the freight cars to derail, damaging his vehicle, the train car, a railroad crossing pole and one of the railroad ties. The crossing closed for about seven hours due to the crash.
