Gary Man Wanted on Four Warrants Captured by K-9

A Gary man was taken into custody after fleeing officers on Thursday evening who were serving four active warrants on him. The Lake County Sheriff's Office reports upon arrival, to the 23-hundred block of Hobart Street in Gary, 45 year old David Serrano exited the rear of the residence and after ignoring orders to stop the subject was knocked down by a K-9. Serrano was then bit in the back of his thigh by the K-9 after attempting to flee again.
After being medically cleared from the hospital, Serrano was transported to the Lake County Jail on the four active warrants for DUI, criminal recklessness, numerous traffic offenses and possession of cocaine. He was additionally charged with resisting law enforcement and possession of drug paraphernalia after a crack pipe was reportedly found on him during the course of the arrest.
