Today is Flag Day, celebrating our flag's birthday -- the adoption of The Stars and Stripes as the flag of the United States in 1777. The public is invited to a Flag Day ceremony tonight at 6 at VFW #988, 7905 Roosevelt Rd, Valparaiso, with cake and punch and reception to follow. Hobart American Legion Post 54 will host a flag retirement program tonight at 7, to properly dispose of worn or torn flags. There's also a special program of patriotic music provided by The Rusty Pipes tonight at 6 at the Hobart Elks Lodge.
