Lansing Police and Fire were dispatched to the report of a drowning victim Thursday at about 6:30 pm. Investigators say they learned that 9-year-old Christian Reese from Chicago was at his grandmother's house in the 25-hundred block of 183rd Street when he and two other family members, age 10 and 11, climbed a neighbor's fence to go swimming. Police say not knowing anyone was in the pool, the homeowner was taking a shower and heard pounding on the door, and the children were screaming that Reese was underwater. The homeowner, officials say, dove in and pulled out the boy, who had reportedly been underwater for several minutes. The child was unresponsive and not breathing when paramedics arrived, and police say he was pronounced dead at Community Hospital in Munster.
