Fallen Crown Point Soldier Returns Home

The Indiana Patriot Guard escorted the body of Specialist Sergio Perez of Crown Point back home after arrival this morning at Gary/Chicago International Airport.  The Indiana National Guard says Perez, a 2010 graduate of Lake Central High School, and Specialist Nicholas Taylor of Berne in northeast Indiana were killed during an attack in Afghanistan last week. Both soldiers were from the 713th Engineer company headquartered in Valparaiso.  Visitation is scheduled for Thursday from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Burns Funeral Home, 10101 Broadway, Crown Point, and funeral services Friday at 9:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Consolation, 8303 Taft, Merrillville.  Burial to follow at Memory Lane Memorial Park, Schererville.
