The former pastor of First Baptist Church in Hammond pleaded guilty in Hammond federal court Wednesday afternoon, after being charged with interstate transportation of a minor with intent to engage in criminal sexual activity. The US Attorneys office issued a news release last week that 54-year-old Jack Schaap of Dyer had signed a plea agreement filed in conjunction with the felony information following an investigation by the FBI. Published reports say Schaap faces a minimum ten-year prison sentence.
