The heart Walks of Lake and Porter Counties have wrapped up on a successful note again this year, raising over a half million dollars for stroke and heart disease research and education. John Jaramillo, Communications Director for the American Heart Association in Northwest Indiana and Chicagoland says if you were a repeat walker, you might have noticed more walkers this year. Jaramillo says there was an "up tick" in walkers by a couple of hundred and that a big reason for that can be attributed to this year's walk leader Mike Finissi, Chief Operating Officer for NIPSCO and the Executive Chair of the 2012 Heart Walks. The American Heart Association thanks all walkers who particpated in the 2012 walks and would also like to thank their national sponsors Subway and Jenny Craig as well as local presenting sponsors, ArcelorMittal, Methodist Hospitals and NIPSCO.
