Details on an E-911 consolidation proposal for Lake County are expected at a meeting of the county's E-911 commission next week, at 9am, October 25th.  Every county in the state is being required to consolidate dispatching services into no more than two buildings by the end of 2014, or risk losing state 911 funding. For Lake County, that includes seventeen cities and towns and the unincorporated area. Published reports say this newest proposal would operate the services for those communities out of one location... there's been talk of setting up two new centers in Hobart and East Chicago.
