U.S. Census Bureau estimates released today show Indiana added about 21-thousand residents from 2011 to 2012, the slowest one-year growth rate for the state since 1986, but according to an analysis by the Indiana Business Research Center at IU's Kelley School of Business, the Hoosier state still outpaced its neighbors, being well-ahead of Illinois, Michigan and Ohio. IBRC state demographer Matt Kinghorn says most areas of the country have seen population growth slow since the onset of the Great Recession, with the country growing slower over the last couple of years than at any time since the mid-1940s.
