Hobart, Taco Bell Hosts Bloodmobile Today

Taco Bell
This is the time year when blood supplies are at their lowest but add to that the recent disaster of Hurricane Sandy and inventory becomes critical making the need for blood dire.  Andy Piffer, Area Coach, Taco Bell, Eric Oppermans Company (that owns eight restaurants in the area) are responding to the shortage by hosting the American Red Cross Bloodmobile at their Taco Bell location at 8476 E. Ridge Rd./US-6 in Hobart from 1pm to 6pm today.
Piffer says he appreciates anyone who can come by and give their blood and knows that the residents of Northwest Indiana will rise to the cause.  The coach notes that Hoosiers are known for their giving spirit but the tight economy is making giving difficult if not impossible.  However, "giving from the Heart, a pint of Blood only costs people about 45-minutes of their time," according to PIffer who says that while depending on those who have donated before, new donors are invited to "have the opportunity to give from the heart as well."
Piffer says that due to it's many components, up to three people could receive help from just one pint of blood.
Along with today's Bloodmobile Drive, Piffer says "we have a few (more drives) scheduled in March" and hope to have many more after that.  Those wanting to donate blood today should register inside at the Taco Bell.  Cookies and juice will be given out after the donation.  Also, Piffer adds "donors will receive a coupon good for a free taco that can be used at anytime."
