Open House Tonight at Porter Co. Career and Technical Center

In his first week as the new chief executive of the state, Indiana Governor Mike Pence visited two stops in the Region, with the first stop being the Porter County Career and Technical Center in Valparaiso.  Jon Groth, Principal and Director of the center says he "was honored that he (the governor) chose our school as the first school to visit in Indiana after his inauguration."
Tonight, Groth is proud to be able to show parents and students alike the school's full potential during an Open House from 6:30pm to 7:30pm at the tech center located at 1005 Franklin Street in Valparaiso.  The principal says the open house differs from regular schools because "it's the only opportunity in high school where students can interview the teacher before they sign up for class."   And what to expect at tonight's open house?  "Teachers will talk about things like job placement opportunities after high school, community service things the school is involved in and also talk about the dual credit students will earn while in our classes," according to the principal who adds, " there will also be information about industry and national certification programs that are available in each of the school programs."
The open house is open to the public.  More information about the Porter County Career and technical Center is at: http://www.pccte.org
