Lake County is Getting Lake Effect

In Northwest Indiana, Lake County is getting hit with lake effect snow showers today.  Accumulations of 1-2, or even higher amounts, are possible in these lake effect snow bands before they diminish later today.  Here's a Special Weather Statement from the National Weather Service in Chicago:

...LAKE EFFECT SNOW SHOWERS TO PERSIST TODAY...
ONGOING LAKE EFFECT SNOW SHOWERS WILL PERSIST TODAY PRIMARILY
AFFECTING AREAS IN SOUTHEAST COOK COUNTY ILLINOIS AND ALL OF LAKE
COUNTY INDIANA. LATEST RADAR IMAGERY DEPICTING AN INCREASE IN
COVERAGE AND INTENSITY WITH THESE SNOW SHOWERS...WITH GARY
REPORTING VISIBILITY AROUND 1 MILE AT THIS TIME. CURRENT
INDICATIONS ARE THAT THIS WILL PERSIST INTO THE AFTERNOON WITH
LITTLE MOVEMENT IN THE AXIS OF THE HEAVIEST SNOW. THIS WILL LIKELY
PRODUCE SOME MINOR ACCUMULATIONS OF 1 TO 2 INCHES WITH LOCALLY
HIGHER AMOUNTS OF 3 INCHES POSSIBLE BEFORE THIS SNOW DIMINISHES
LATE THIS AFTERNOON. TRAVEL WILL BE AFFECTED WITH INTERMITTENT
VISIBILITY REDUCTIONS TO 1 MILE OR LESS POSSIBLE...AS WELL AS SOME
SLIPPERY CONDITIONS DEVELOPING UNDER THE MORE PERSISTENT SNOW
SHOWERS. ALL AREA TRAVELERS SHOULD USE CAUTION AS CONDITIONS WILL
VARY GREATLY OVER SHORT DISTANCES.
