Region Students Affected by Federal Shutdown

Campers and visitors aren't the only one affected by the closure of Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore in the federal government shutdown. Region grade-schoolers won't be able to use cabins at the Lakeshore for their annual three-day science and history program that was scheduled through the Dunes Learning Center.
The local IRS office is closed in northwest Indiana, and some Region homebuyers could face delays as paperwork goes on hold, with lenders being unable to verify certain information with the federal government.
The US Mail will keep being delivered. The US Postal Service is controlled by Congress, but it doesn't get tax dollars for day to day operations.
