A sad post on the Valparaiso Police Facebook page today... saying retired K-9 Frida, a 10-year-old Belgian Malinois, lost her battle with cancer Tuesday. Officer Todd Kobitz and Frida worked together on the department for seven years. Frida began her career with the Valparaiso Police Department in 2005, and retired in the Spring of last year, spending her retirement at home with Officer Kobitz and his family.
The department says Frida’s services resulted in more than three-hundred arrests. Frida was the department's first “full patrol” K-9, which means she was certified in narcotic detection, building searches, area searches, tracking of suspects, article searches and aggression.
