A proposal to relieve overcrowding at the Porter County Jail by opening the vacant third pod was tabled today by the Porter County Commissioners. According to the study by the DLZ engineering firm, the county could have to pay anywhere between 146-thousand to 158-thousand dollars to make the third pod, which has been vacant for 11 years, ready for use. Commissioners tabled the proposal to find out if opening the pod can be done for less money.
