Urschels Donate $3M for Valpo Pavilion/Ice Rink

The city of Valparaiso says the Urschel family is pledging three-million dollars toward the expansion of Central Park Plaza – specifically, to build a pavilion that'll also serve as as ice skating rink in downtown Valpo during the winter.

Construction of the William E. Urschel pavilion is expected to begin in October of next year, with a planned opening for summer of 2015. William E. Urschel founded Urschel Laboratories in Valparaiso in 1910. The company designs, manufactures and sells food-cutting equipment like commercial potato chip slicers and lettuce shredders.
