Annie was born and raised in Northwest Indiana with her younger sister and parents in Hammond. After spending some time out of the area chasing the radio dream she has moved back to start a family with her two main men: Jager the mutt and fiance Rob. When she is not on the air Annie enjoys cheering her favorite Chicago sports teams (Da Bears, Da Bulls, And Da Sox), hiking, and exploring new fairs and festivals! (Anything Deep Fried she's in!) Annie cannot wait to share her life with you on air and is excited to be back in the Region doing what she loves!
Yesterday, went for another round of wedding shopping and had the worst experience! I felt like Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman when the sales staff thinks you are beneath their service! I came in for my appointment and immediately was looked up and down and everyone looked away. Finally I said I had an appointment and was assigned a bridal consultant. She asked my budget... after I stated what it was she rolled her eyes and said you won't find much for that price. Well excuse me! She then stuck me in a room and left to never be found again!
Fast forward 15 minutes... My bridesmaid and I started helping ourselves when we got tired of waiting! Bad mistake, first dress we slip on rips all the way down the back! (Almost peed my pants as we hurried to put the sample back on the rack!) By time another saleswoman (who was very nice) came to help the day was ruined! I had already made up my mind no matter what dress I liked there was no way I was buying it here! It's amazing how one bad attitude can ruin your experience!
Another thing I didn't like is how there were no prices listed anywhere! Anytime you asked the price the response was the same “oh we could work some deals and get it in your price range”. I just wanted to scream “No what's the price?!?” So if I said my price range was higher would the dresses price automatically get higher? I couldn't wait to get outta that shop!
Have you ever had horrible customer service that ruined your experience? Maybe you work in the service industry and have some horror stories you'd like to share? Let's talk about it on Facebook!
Yesterday, Billy Bob Thrornton was on Live With Kelly talking about his weird phobias. (Antiques and Expensive Silverware) Do you have any weird ones? I absolutely cannot hear the sound of nail clippers or nail files! It doesn't matter if you are in the other room, I will hear it! Ugh my head hurts just thinking about it! I also am like Captain Hook and cannot stand ticking clocks... give me digital all the way! I can go on and on with weird things that bother me, but I'll stop!
Are these phobias weird? What would you put on the list? Let's talk about it on Facebook!
I'm slowly learning how to be a bride! This weekend spent all day Saturday wrapped up in wedding mania! First my mom, sister, and I went for round two of wedding gown shopping and I finally know what style of dress I like! Now I can confidentially say “a fit and flare style with a dropped waist!” Sidebar: Why does every consultant want to put me in a dang ballgown?!?! No thanks... I would rather not look like I belong on the top of a cake!
Anyway, I finally had my first freak out moment! My sister picks the most gorgeous dress (pictured above), we start to put it on, and it happens... I'm stuck! Fabric is going up places it shouldn't, my stomach cannot move to breathe, and I start to sweat! Full panic mode ensues, till my sister is fully under my dress and my mom is on the back-end pulling me out! I wish we had a camera in the dressing room so you could see the crazy mess we were in! Thank goodness they were able to get me out without ripping the dress or we'd be buying a dress that had NO written all over it!
Needless to say, that was the end of our dress shopping for the day! Still haven't found “The One”, but a lot that I have tried on are super close! I'm still waiting for the dress that I cannot live without... is that silly? Any suggestions? Let us know on Facebook!
Have you seen this new Time Magazine cover with a mom breast feeding her nearly 4 year old son? The mom Jamie Lynne Grumet was on the Today show Friday explaining her style of parenting know as attachment parenting. Do you or anyone you know practice this style of parenting? What do you think of a toddler this age/size still breast feeding?
I'll admit I find the image kind of jarring! However, I cannot claim to know anything about parenting, so I don't really know which way I would stand!
Let's here your opinion on our Facebook page!
Mother's Day weekend is here, did you get mom something special? I always find it so hard to shop for my mom! She'd probably be happy with just about anything, but no present ever seems big enough to show her how much I appreciate her! I know everyone thinks it, but my mom is the best out there!
Anyway, a new study has found a mother will pass on an average of 41 "Pearls of Wisdom" to their children. What is the most important lesson you learned from your mom? Here's a couple of things that made the list:
1.Always try your best
2. If you can't say something nice don't say anything at all
3. Get an education - no-one can take that away from you
4. Eat with your mouth closed
5. If you don't ask you don't get
6. Never spend money you don't have
7. Never take sweets from strangers
9. Never swim on a full stomach
10. Treat people with respect
11. Always wear clean underwear
I think the best advice my mom ever gave me is to always give your best effort... it doesn't matter if you win or loose, but if you don't try your best, what's the point? What “Pearls of Wisdom” would you add to the list? Let us know on Facebook!
Happy Mother's Day!
