Michigan City Police and the LaPorte County Coroner are trying to identify a pedestrian killed in an accident at US 20 and Ohio Street shortly after 8-o'clock Friday morning. Police say a preliminary investigation revealed a semi was northbound on Ohio Street approaching the intersection of Highway 20 when an unidentified man, described as white and possibly 60-to-70 years old, stepped off the curb and into the path of the truck. Police say the pedestrian died upon impact. The semi driver, from Maryland, was unhurt.
