One of the state's most productive citizens has passed on at the "ripe" old age of 19. This citizen has wings and hung out on the 31st floor of Market Tower in downtown Indianapolis. The Department of natural Resources says Kinney, the city's favorite peregrine falcon the oldest and most productive peregrine falcon in the Midwest, was found dead Friday outside the 29th floor of the building, apparently suffering injuries consistent with colliding into the building. The DNR says a breeding peregrine usually lives just six to seven years, so Kinney, lived a long and productive life fathering 61 young with two females. The falcon was hatched in captivity and released in Lexington, Kentucky, by the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources in 1993. One year later he showed up in Indianapolis, according to the DNR.
