Northern Indiana Public Service Company reports more than 57,000 customers lost power in the severe storms that moved across northwest Indiana this afternoon. NIPSCO crews are working to assess the damage. 

Some of the harder hit areas include Gary, Hammond, East Chicago, Merrillville, Cedar Lake, Crown Point, Chesterton, Griffith, Highland, LaPorte, Munster, Schererville and Valparaiso.

We are getting multiple reports of traffic signals out in Lake County:
Ridge Road and Cline Avenue, Highland/Griffith area
Cline Avenue, north and south of Ridge Road
US 30 and Deep River Water Park, Merrillville
US 30 and I-65, Merrrillville
US 30 and Radisson Hotel & Star Plaza, Merrillville


Police urge all motorists to treat intersections that are out as four-way stops
