NICTD Transit Police say a man was stabbed and his car stolen as he was waiting for his wife to get off the train at the East Chicago South Shore Station Monday night. Authorities say shortly after 5:30 pm the victim went into the bathroom, where someone followed him in, attacked him from behind with a knife, then was stabbed a second time after throwing down his keys, cell phone and wallet. Police say the suspect then stole the victim’s vehicle, a silver 2005 Honda Accord with Illinois license plates and fled north on Indianapolis Boulevard into East Chicago. Police say the victim is being treated for non life-threatening injuries.

MAN STABBED AND CAR STOLEN DURING ROBBERY AT EAST CHICAGO SOUTH SHORE STATION
NICTD Transit Police are investigating the Monday evening (11-26-12) attempted murder, armed robbery and auto theft at the East Chicago South Shore Station.
At 5:42 PM the victim had parked his car and was waiting for his wife to get off the train when we went into the bathroom. A suspect followed the victim into the bathroom and from behind, slashed the victim’s throat with a knife. The victim threw down his keys, wallet and cell phone and attempted to flee but was stabbed a second time during a struggle. The victim was able to escape from the bathroom and run from the station with the suspect running behind him
Witnesses said the suspect then stole the victim’s vehicle, a silver 2005 Honda Accord with Illinois license plate H713340, and fled north on Indianapolis Boulevard into East Chicago.
The suspect is described as a black male wearing dark clothing and carrying a green cloth shopping style bag with white letters on the bag..
