The Northwestern Indiana Regional Planning Commission has announced a joint meeting of the Council of Northwestern Indiana Towns and Smaller Cities, and NIRPC’s Local Government Assistance Advisory Committee is scheduled for tomorrow, Wednesday, November 28. The 9:00 a.m. meeting will be hosted by the Town of Cedar Lake at its Town Clubhouse, 9800 West 129th Avenue. NIRPC says an INDOT presentation regarding the Illiana Expressway was originally on the agenda, but it was canceled by INDOT.

Portage – The Northwestern Indiana Planning Commission will hold a joint meeting of the Council of Northwestern Indiana Towns and Smaller Cities, and NIRPC’s Local Government Assistance Advisory Committee on Wednesday, November 28. The 9:00 a.m. meeting will be hosted by the Town of Cedar Lake at its Town Clubhouse, 9800 West 129th Avenue, which is about a mile east of U.S. 41. Schneider Town Councilman Richard Ludlow chairs the Council and Hobart Mayor Brian Snedecor chairs the Advisory Committee.
Though originally on the meeting agenda, the Indiana Department of Transportation has canceled its presentation regarding the Illiana Corridor Study. Included on the agenda will be a NIRPC presentation on its 2040 Comprehensive Regional Plan (CRP) and what it will need to do to prepare for the possibility of taking an action sometime in 2013 to potentially amend the CRP to include an Illiana Expressway. In addition, Purdue University will present, “Recovering Full Repair Costs of Government Infrastructure Damaged by Motor Vehicle Crashes.” Richard Ludlow will also present an update of the ethanol plant for Schneider. Finally, Tom Bredeweg of the Indiana Association of Cities and Towns will present an update of issues and possible legislation.
